How to Use the Mounjaro KwikPen
We recommend watching the instructional video above for a step-by-step guide on how to use the Mounjaro KwikPen. Please also keep the following key points in mind:
Storage

Store the pen in the fridge until it is first used.

Once in use, it can be kept at room temperature (2–30°C) for up to 30 days.
Using the Pen

Perform an "air shot" (priming the needle) before each dose.

After administering the dose, count to 5 before removing the needle.

Each pen contains four doses.

Important Information for Women of Childbearing Age
If you are using Mounjaro (or other GLP-1 injections), it's important to understand how this may affect your contraception. Please refer to the guidance from the Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare for full details. Key points include:

Additional contraception is required: Use a barrier method (e.g., condoms) alongside your oral contraceptive for:

Four weeks after starting Mounjaro

Four weeks after any increase in dose

Four weeks after switching from another GLP-1 agonist

Oral emergency contraception: It is not yet clear whether GLP-1 agonists affect its effectiveness.

Pregnancy: GLP-1 medications should not be used during pregnancy. You must stop the medication before becoming pregnant. The length of time you should stop before conceiving depends on the specific GLP-1 medication you are using. For more information, please see the guidance linked HERE.
