Giffords Surgery has a patient participation group that was established on 23.2.2010 when we held our first meeting with our 3 patients who volunteered to start the group. We now have Mr James McGee - Chairman, Mrs Jill Tompkins, Mr Simon Bridgford-Whittock, Ros Carlile and Inge Travers as group members.
The group meets once a month usually on a Tuesday afternoon from 3pm-5pm at the surgery with the surgery team. The group have carried out their first patient survey to identify areas within the surgery that patients feel need addressing. The PPG is looking for new members and there are two ways in which you can get involved, if you would like to join the team, please ask at reception for an application form.
The PPG and the surgery have also put on two open mornings one in 2010, and the more recent day on 14th May 2011, which was extremely successful - It allowed patients to come behind the scenes at the surgery to see what goes on, and ask questions of the doctors and staff. Dr Hill offered mole checks for anyone attending the morning, which was extremely popular, and our Nurse Practitioner carried out blood pressure checks.
If you would like to be part of the team but your time is limited, perhaps you would consider being a virtual member of the PPG? What we are looking for is patients who would be willing to give us their views about how the practice is doing. We would like to be able to find out the opinions of as many patients as possible and are asking if people would like to provide their email addresses so we can contact you every now and again to ask you a question or two. If you would be interested in being part of this reference group, could you please complete the Contact Form and hand it back to reception. Your contact details will only be used for this purpose and will be kept safely.
We are particularly looking for younger members aged between 16-55yrs to join the group to aid in creating an accurate representation of the practice population.
